Artistic career

In 2014 Florian Weiss brings the quartet „Woodoism” to life, involving Linus Amstad on saxophone, Valentin von Fischer on double bass and Philipp Leibundgut on drums. The playful and chamber musical compositions he writes for this project were inspired by various film documentaries. In 2015 the band toured Switzerland being part of the «DKSJ Best of Swiss Jazz Bachelors» festival. Shortly after that the first tour abroad took place in Hungary. In spring 2017 Woodoism introduces its first album on a extensive release tour in Switzerland and Germany.

Alongside with the clarinetist Philipp Hillebrand and drummer Clemens Kuratle, Florian Weiss founds the trio „La Môme” in 2015, which repertoire is devoted to Édith Piaf’s artistic work. The collective redesigns the chansons of „Paris’ sparrow” with its own colors. In 2016 the band was selected for the ZHdK Master’s degree concerts series „Highlights”. „La Môme” releases its first album in January 2017 and presents it touring across Switzerland. Besides with his own projects, Florian Weiss can also be seen on stage in Switzerland and the neighboring countries with a variety of different bands. He has worked with the following formations and musicians (selection): Julian Sartorius, Andreas Tschopp, John Voirol, Lucas Niggli, Opernhaus Zürich („Die Soldaten”), Freda Goodlett, Mario Batkovic, Swiss Army Big Band, Lucerne Jazz Orchestra.
